The sand production will be used primarily in local construction industry, and the proposed project activities include site preparation, sand excavation, loading and transportation, as well as site rehabilitation. The pit will support sand excavation activities and allow for continued sand production of 20,000 tonnes/year and up to an additional 100,000 tonnes/year for new markets. The expanded sand pit will occupy a maximum of 15.7 hectares (including the existing pit) of land, with an expected operational life of 20 years. The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to expand the existing 3.9 hectares of sand pit, in Lovett Road, Coldbrook, Kings County, Nova Scotia. This is to advise that on October 21, 2014, 3048483 Nova Scotia Limited registered the Coldbrook Sand Pit Expansion Project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act. ![]()
